As a company in the Timberland Group, TIMBERLAND EQUIPMENT LIMITED is a Canadian-owned, entrepreneurial, globally recognized company located in Woodstock, Ontario, where we are a fully operational facility with sales, engineering, and manufacturing departments all under one roof. We are currently looking for a MECHANICAL TECHNOLOGIST.  This is a full time position with an attractive wage and benefits for the right candidate. POSITION OVERVIEW The Mechanical Technologist is responsible for ensuring the development of technical documentation, compiling signage and adhering signage to equipment which indicate safety requirements (ensuring duty to warn is clear), and for the accuracy of designs prior to release to production. This position provides mechanical design support as required.  The position overview is to be used as a guideline only and may not incorporate all functions of the job. DUTIES
  • Support Designers as required by performing drafting of components and systems
  • Troubleshoot shop problems related to design or manufacturing process and make necessary design corrections and fill out supporting documentation (NCR)
  • Significant liaison between engineering and production
  • Design, create and maintain technical documents such as installation, lubrication and operation procedures for further production into equipment parts and service manuals
  • Support Designers in drawing submittals
  • Provide direction and training for temporary personnel helping with product support
  • Identify safety aspects for design
  • Design, create and maintain safety warning documents such as decals and operating procedures
  • Affix decals to completed equipment
  • Maintain engineering decals and drawing supplies
  • Provide support in checking specification and drawing details; such as weld symbols, dimensions, assembly BOMs for projects
  • Ensure calculations and data are available to support the design requirements
  • Specify system components
  • Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of assigned projects
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Engineering
  • 1 – 2 years of design experience in a manufacturing environment; co-op experience an asset
  • Technical writing experience an asset
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical components
  • 2D and 3D CAD system modelling experience (AutoCAD / Inventor an asset)
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment signage practices and legal liability requirements regarding duty to warn an asset
